Forest as Body: An Ecosomatic Journey near Koli National Park

Immersed in the living textures of the Finnish forest, we enter a space where body, mind, and environment begin to resonate as one.

This guided experience blends walking, bathing into Finnish forest, Body-Mind Centering®, and ecosomatic practice to invite participants into a deeper, embodied relationship with nature and with each other.

Through gentle movement, breath, touch, and sensory exploration, we awaken our inner landscapes while listening to the intelligence of the outer world: the moss underfoot, the shifting light, the rhythm of trees. The forest is not a backdrop but a living organism with which we co-regulate. By attuning to the forest and to one another, we create a field of shared presence that nourishes ourselves and nervous system balance.

Core intentions:

  • To experience the forest not as scenery, but as kin, an organism.

  • To sense the body as part of an ecological continuum.

  • To explore co-regulation as a path to self-regulation.

Each “station” along the forest path becomes a site for somatic inquiry: an opportunity to pause, feel, reflect, and be moved by the more-than-human world. This is a return. A remembering. A re-tuning of the senses to the wisdom of the body and the Earth.

Our journey leads through a diverse landscape near the Koli National Park. Rocky path, old trees, lake side and moist swamp will become a teacher in your exploration. How does the forest become a teacher – inviting you to move, rest, and sense in harmony with the land.

Through gentle guided exploration, we’ll:
- Bathes in sensory immersion (slow walking, listening, touching).

- Practice Body-Mind Centering exercises to connect inner & outer landscapes.
- Engage in partner/group somatic play: mirroring trees, grounding like roots, reaching like branches.
- Rest in silent communion with the forest, allowing its wisdom to resonate within.
